Eastern Carolina Medical Center (ECMC) is seeking a Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our established Internal/Family Medicine practice in Benson, North Carolina.
Founded in 1987, ECMC provides comprehensive medical care supported by a broad range of on-site diagnostic, laboratory, pharmacy, and specialty services.
Position Overview
The PA or NP will provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and patient-care services in collaboration with our physicians and healthcare team, consistent with the provider's scope of practice and applicable North Carolina regulations.
This position primarily serves an adult patient population in an established physician-led practice. Providers can expect a manageable patient volume of approximately 20 patients per day, with an emphasis on thorough, high-quality, patient-centered care.
New graduates are welcome to apply; experienced providers are preferred. Compensation is based on experience.
Schedule & Work Environment:
- Monday–Friday.
- No weekends/No call.
- Full-time, in-person position.
- Approximately 20 patients per day.
- Primarily adult patient population.
- Established physician-led practice.
- Electronic Medical Record: Veradigm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform focused patient histories and physical examinations.
- Evaluate and manage acute and chronic conditions.
- Develop assessments and participate in diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Initiate and manage treatment within the provider's scope of practice.
- Recognize potentially serious conditions and refer appropriately.
- Order and manage appropriate laboratory, imaging, and diagnostic studies.
- Review and follow up on laboratory results, imaging, therapies, and diagnostic studies.
- Assist with triage and management of urgent patient needs.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Educate patients regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and preventive care.
- Perform additional procedures and clinical services as appropriately privileged.
Qualifications:
Physician Assistant:
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current North Carolina PA license.
- NCCPA certification (PA-C).
- Ability to practice within applicable professional, technical, and legal requirements.
Nurse Practitioner:
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current North Carolina Nurse Practitioner license/certification.
- National board certification appropriate to the provider's specialty.
- Ability to practice within applicable professional, technical, and legal requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Primary Care, or a related setting.
- Experience caring for adult patients.
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to patient-centered care.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative healthcare team.
